President

Lauren is a community volunteer, former software engineer and President of the Friends of Palo Alto Junior Museum and Zoo. She graduated from Dartmouth College and MIT with degrees in computer science and was then a software engineer at Google. She enjoys rock climbing, biking and reading – with or without her four kids. When Lauren and her daughter participate in the Family Volunteer Program at the JMZ, their favorite place to be is the water table in the Dawn Redwood Courtyard because it’s a surefire way to connect with some of the youngest visitors.

Vice President

Jill is a seasoned event planner and project manager with over 20 years in the industry. After culinary school and a degree from University of San Francisco, she started a career in restaurants and hotels and then became a wedding planner. After years of weddings, she transitioned to corporate events and remains as passionate about the industry as she was 20 years ago. Jill lives in Redwood City with her husband and two kids and loves being a mostly stay-at-home mom these days.

Secretary

Steve has three decades of experience in land use planning and urban development in Peninsula, South and East Bay cities. He served most recently as the City of Palo Alto’s Director of Community Environment and Deputy City Manager, until his retirement in 2013. Since then, he has operated the Palo Alto office of Lighthouse Public Affairs. He remains active in the community through volunteering with several service and non profit organizations. Steve and his wife have lived in Palo Alto since 1988, where they raised their son Alex.

Treasurer

Chelsea is a senior finance leader with extensive experience across the dynamic sectors of technology and media & entertainment. Alongside her professional achievements, she is dedicated to animal and environmental conservation and passionate about advancing STEM education for children. She brings to the board a passion for helping ensure opportunities exist for all children which inspire scientific curiosity and nurture a lifelong appreciation of the natural world. Chelsea holds a BS from Babson College and lives in Redwood City with her family.
